Invisible web(DATABASE)

OH HI GUYS! We were thought how to use the functionality of invisible web and we were asked to compare is it more effective to search the invisible web than using search engine, meta-search engine or subject directories.EBSCOhost search facilities has many functions that allows the user to do a very detailed research (e.g the search box contains various boolean functions as well as 3 kinds of searches - basic, advanced and even visual. It even has a history option for us to dig through our previous searches thus saving us the trouble to search for the information again. I find that EBSCOhost search facilities is very similar to the Google search engine in terms of the availability of information, various search functions to provide more specific results as well as options for images.

Dream Holiday on Second Life!

Hello readers! Today I'm gonna blog about my dream holiday on my secondlife account! I'm so excited to tell you guys about the great adventures I had!
I went to a destination called WONDEROAKS! It's an Adventure/Fantasy place!
Here's a picture of how the place looks like!

Secondlife uses a 3D graphic so it's like a real life experience! I explored around the place with a many clicks. I wandered around until i came across a house! The house is made of bricks and nobody's staying in it! It feels like i'm staying in a cottage near the sea! I have always wanted to stay near the sea! This is something that cannot be compared with a real life holiday experience.I'm a person that loves adventures,explore new things and see new animals. We can't always be living in a well-developed place. We must go around the world to see how the world looks like. And with the internet to help us with it we can see how the other places look like. Below is the place that i wish to go! Anyway if you don't know where it is,it's a part of carribean islands.

The latter is also known as a cougar or mountain lion. Ancient Maya aborigines worshipped jaguars and today still revere and fear the creatures. During your jungle wanderings, you might come across the rather scary tapir, or mountain cow, Belize's national animal. Think crossbreeding of a pig and cow weighing up to 650 pounds.

Hi,i back here again! Okay,this week we were thought how search the invisible web(databases). The database we asked to use was EBSCOhost Databases from temasek poly digital library portal! Everything was new to me,and btw i love to explore new things! When i cliked on journals,there was many tabs to customize my search. It was like an advance search engine. There are many search options! You can use boolean operators and many more. I typed in my topic and 26 results came out!

Advance searches makes it easier and narrows down our search.
The results are summarized and even the Authors,Source,Document Type,Subject Terms,Author-Supplied etc. It shows you results in a very systematic way. This is real perfect!

Second Life Group Activity

Hello,i created my first secondlife account just not long ago. Secondlife is like a virtual life of yours,your so called "secondlife". Secondlife allows you to buy clothes,cars and animals etc. It's just like reality. I went to explore the website and found many great things about it. But since i was here to do my homework then i went straight to the shopping tab! YAY! SHOPPING IS MY FAVOURITE!
I went into MEN'S CLOTHES first,and i clicked on jackets and coats! I wanted to buy a jacket because in lecture halls it is sometimes very cold,so it be of good use! AND LOOK WHAT I HAVE FOUND!!

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! I found this striking red jacket which suits me! Look bad to the bone in this sexy leather Jacket,i wanna make the ladies swoon and want to jump onto me! My friends will be jealous and want to know where you got it. I will be worshipped as a rock'n'roll god in this classically cool leather jacket.Secondly,i went to see the vehicles section. Wow,there were many cars.

WELL DESIGNED,PERFECT! I WISHED THEY WERE REAL! But if they were real,i think i wouldn't be able to buy them too. It would be super expensive. I went across this super car. Kinda like the style. Take a look!

And lastly buy and animal! Personally i think animals are cute,as long as they don't bite i'm fine with it. I like dogs. They can protect your house from burglars and help blind people. Dogs are men's best friend! Can't agree more to that statement! Oh they have a tiger pet! There i found my dog!

Overall i think that shopping in virtual life is better. BECAUSE ALL THE ITEMS ARE FREE OF CHARGE! NO MONEY WORRIES! You can get all the things you want,whereas in real life you need to have money to buy things you like. This virtual shopping experience teaches us how to do online shopping. It's like a dummy shopping site. Many people don't know how to do online shopping,so i might recommend them to use this website first before they go for real online shopping!

Introduction

Cant believe that I actually signed up for a blog. The only other time when I signed up for a blog. That was about one or two years ago. It was sort of fun, but the trouble was, that I tend to forget about some things for a while and after a while, my account there was gone. I mean, just look at my deviantart account. I havent updated the journal there since June!

Anyway, let me just introduce myself. I'm ivan lim,i in MTN 2nd year.
I guess I’m pretty much an average person. I suppose that alot of people think of themselves that way. However, I’ve people describe me as a good listener, loyal, sarcastic, eccentric.

Finally, but not least, I enjoy technology, the internet as well as self improvement. Its amazing the wealth of information that we could get from the ‘net. However, ironically, I feel that its sort of sad that at the same time, I tend to spend more time at the general mind numbing activities on the internet compared to something educational.
